Privacy

Most privacy policies are written so that anything the site might one day do is technically covered. This one describes what the code actually does, because on this site you can check.

Your files are never uploaded

Every converter here reads your file in your own browser. There is no server to upload to: the pages are static files, the parsing runs in your tab, and the result is handed straight to your downloads folder. No bank statement, spreadsheet or PDF you open with these tools ever reaches me, my hosting provider, or anyone else.

You do not have to believe that. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert something — you will see one small request that counts the conversion, and you can open it and read the body. Then disconnect from the internet and convert another file: it still works, because the conversion never needed the network.

What the counter records

When a page loads, and when a file is converted, the site sends a short message with numbers in it: how many pages a document had, how many rows came out, how many columns were found. No filename, no payee, no amount, no text from inside your file. The code that sends it accepts numbers only, which is what makes that a rule rather than a promise.

Visitors are counted with a one-way hash of the day, the site, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string, mixed with a secret. Your IP address is hashed and discarded — it is never written down. Because the day is part of the input, the hash is worthless tomorrow, so nobody can follow you from one day to the next or join you between tools. This is the same construction Plausible and Fathom use, and it is why this site has no cookie banner.

What your browser stores

Three small things, all on your device, none of them sent anywhere and none of them able to identify you:

  • mk_theme — whether you chose light or dark.
  • mk_visits — the day this browser first opened a page here and how many separate days it has. It contains no identifier: two day numbers and a count. What is reported is "this was somebody's fourth visit", which cannot be tied to a person, a session, or another visit.
  • Nothing else. Clearing your site data removes all of it and costs you nothing but the theme you picked.

The feedback form

If you use the form at the bottom of any page, it sends exactly what you typed — your message, and a contact address if you chose to give one — to me, along with which page you were on. Nothing else, and never anything from a file you were converting. I read them myself. If you give me an address I will usually reply within a day; if you do not, I simply read it and act on it.

Advertising

There are no adverts on this site today, and no advertising or analytics scripts from any third party. If that ever changes, it will change on the guide and article pages only — the converters will stay free of third-party code, because "nothing leaves your device" is the reason they exist and an advert on the page would make that sentence untrue. This section will be rewritten with the specifics before any advert appears, not after.

The dashboard

There is one private page, /dashboard, which only I can open. It shows the counts described above. Signing in uses Google, and the only thing kept is a signed cookie saying which account signed in. It has no access to anything of yours.

Your rights, and how to use them

The honest position is that I hold almost nothing about you, and nothing that could be matched to you. There is no account, no profile and no record that says "this person did this". If you have sent me feedback and want it deleted, email navesta01@gmail.com and I will delete it and tell you when it is done.

Need a tool that doesn't exist yet? I build these one at a time, by hand. Tell me what you need.

This is a one-person workshop, not a company. If a file format is ruining your week, or one of these tools reads your bank's statement wrongly, say so — a real example is the most useful thing you can send me, and it is usually fixed within a few days.

This form sends only what you type. Your files are never part of it — they are never uploaded anywhere, which is the whole point of the tools.
