What you are agreeing to
You may use these tools for anything, including commercial work, for free, without an account and without asking. There is no licence to accept and no usage limit.
The tools can be wrong, and you have to check
This is the term that actually matters. Reading a PDF statement is inference: the tool works out which text is a date and which is an amount from where it sits on the page, and a layout it has not seen before can be read wrongly. Reading an OFX file is not inference and is far more reliable, but neither is a substitute for looking.
If you are going to reconcile, file or pay something on the basis of a file this site produced, check it against the original first. The tools show you what they found for exactly this reason, and tell you when a row could not be read rather than quietly writing a zero. They cannot tell you when a row was read plausibly but wrongly. Only you can.
No warranty, and what that means in practice
The tools are provided as they are, without any guarantee that they are correct, available, or suitable for what you are using them for. I am one person; I cannot be liable for a decision you took because a converted file said something. If something goes wrong, tell me and I will fix the tool — that is the remedy I can actually offer, and I take it seriously.
Please do not
- Try to break the site for other people — hammering the counter endpoint, or automating the feedback form.
- Republish these tools as your own. The code is mine; using the tools, including for work you are paid for, is entirely fine and encouraged.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters — anything becoming paid, adverts appearing, data being collected that is not collected now — it will be said on the page it affects, before it happens rather than after. The date below is when this was last edited.
